In a welcome move in a city which boasts of over 100 KMs of cycle tracks, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has, in the first phase, constituted a dedicated cycling squad comprising 16 traffic policemen on cycles for promotion of cycling in the city, educating cyclists to ride on cycle tracks and prosecuting motorists who drive on these tracks. This squad took part in the march past on the Republic Day and Independence Day and is all set to undertake its new endeavor.
